Bronze of Peace
In 1982, world leaders came together to celebrate the 800th anniversary
of St. Francis and honor the former soldier as the symbol of peace
in San Francisco. One incredibly gifted man took this idea and molded
it into bronze. The result was “St. Francis of Assissi, Man of Peace”,
an inspiring masterpiece that made its way into the hands and hearts
of leaders from Rome and Moscow.
Lorenzo received the honor of presenting this magnificent bronze
to Pope John Paul II in Rome and King Juan Carlos I in Spain, but
was unable to meet with then premier of Russia, Mikhail Gorbachev,
who was attending the San Francisco summit. Nineteen years later,
Gorbachev finally met the famous artist, who had created and gifted
him with this inspiring masterpiece, at Dr. Schuller’s Crystal Cathedral
in California
